Shop Monthly Update July 2023

Hot, Hot, HotAs I write this it is hot, humid and sticky outside.  So how can we keep cool? Pop into the Village Shop and purchase one of their ice lollies, such a choice of flavours, or take a look in the upright freezer for a yummy New forest Ice Cream.  You will find a good selection of Vanilla, Strawberry, Ginger, Toffee Crunch (definitely my favourite!) or Mint Choc Chip.  The choice is yours.

Drinks.  A good selection of cold drinks also awaits you, from Cola and sprite to a Gin & Tonic.  During the summer months you will also find a nice white wine, chilled ready for you to drink.

Chilled Foods.  Look in the first Chiller for Smoked Trout, delivered every Friday, and Smoked Trout Pate.  Have you tried the Cheese Souffle (my neighbour tells me they are delicious)?  Quiches, from Dandelion, arrive on Tuesdays.

Making Life Easy.  Moving along to the freezers you will find a good selection of Ready Meals all reasonably priced, including Roast Beef, Roast Chicken and Toad in the Hole, a choice of Pizzas and also Ethel’s Pies ( which you can cook from frozen).

By Ruby.  We have an amazing variety of their meals available.  Some are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and for those needing Gluten Free.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetables.  Fresh fruit and veg are delivered daily and don’t forget that freshly picked Watercress is delivered every Friday.

Your village Shop

Abbotts Ann Village Shop clearly has lots to offer.  It is your Shop so please give it your full support.

Laying down My Pen

After many years this is my last entry for the Shop in the Magazine.  Time to hand over to fresh ideas!

English Sparkling Wine – Pinot Blend Brut

INTRODUCING

GOODWORTH 2019 PINOT BLEND BRUT

(50% Pinot Noir, 50% Pinot Meunier)

This is a perfect and exact blend between Pinot Noir, chosen for its red fruits aroma, its body, depth of flavour and fullness, and Pinot Meunier, our favourite, for its aromatic sweetness,  a lush fruitiness and the capacity to acquire the roundness of age comparatively rapidly.

The Pinot Noir grape provides the back-bone of our wine, whilst the Pinot Meunier lends softness and orchard fruit aromas. A beautifully rich golden colour as well as an intense nose with red fruit aromas, such as red cherry, cranberry and redcurrant, are enticing us to take a first sip. A hint of strawberry lingers in the background. A creamy, full mouthfeel contributes to a very long finish. Ideal served on its own as an apéritif or try it alongside a quiche Lorraine or Parma ham.
